You've probably seen medicinal mushrooms all over wellness headlines over the last couple of years touting their amazing functional benefits for our health. We have a lot of love for these adaptogenic powerhouses that carry healing properties like relieving stress, regulating our hormones, and balancing our blood sugar. 

Enter Mushroom Mocha Elixir. This creamy, frothy, chocolatey immune-boosting beverage is not only delicious, but it’s a great example of how to maximize the medicinal benefits of mushrooms. Rather than just adding a bit of mushroom powder to your beverage of choice, our elixir starts with a Chaga tea as the base. Then we layer in our Lion’s Mane and Reishi powders along with other key ingredients that really boost flavor and round out the nutrients, plus who doesn’t love chocolate and sea salt together?!

Step 1 - Brew Chaga Tea

Ingredients:

2 pieces (approx 40 grams) Whole Chaga Mushroom

4 cups water

Method:

  1. Bring water to boil then lower heat to medium and add Chaga chunks.

  2. Let this simmer for 20 mins - 1 hour

  3. Discard Chaga. Use brewed tea immediately or store it in a container in the fridge for future use.

Step 2 - Mushroom Mocha Elixir

Ingredients:

1 cup brewed Chaga tea (hot)

1 cup plant milk (hot)

1/4 tsp Reishi Powder

1/4 tsp Lion’s Mane Powder

1 tsp - 1 Tbsp cocoa (depending on how chocolatey you want it)

1 Tbsp almond butter

1 tsp - 1 Tbsp honey (depending on how sweet you want it)

Pinch of cinnamon

Pinch of sea salt

Method:

  1. Combine all ingredients into a blender.

  2. Blend on high for 20-30 seconds.

  3. Serve hot.
